The Spix Macaw is perhaps better known as 'Blu' the brave Parrot (or Macaw which is a type of Parrot) who starred in the film Rio. Blu flew thousands of miles to save his species in the film, but hasn't been so lucky in real life. Blu's species, the Spix Macaw, is now extinct in the wild and if you want to see one you have to visit a zoo! Blu's are being bred in captivity to be released in the wild and by planting 21 trees you are helping to restore the homes of jungle dwelling animals like Blu and his friends. Our Blu glass bracelet with its WWF call for help is a way of inspiring others and reminding them that even though the Blu maybe in the wild, he can be inspiration in our lives through films and art.
Inspired by the amazing work being done by the World Wildlife Fund to help endangered animals, we have designed a small selection of bracelets for kids, although adults too love to wear them. Each of our WWF inspired bracelets has red and white bands symbolising a call for 'help' by the animals symbolised by the bracelet and uses a single vibrant colour to depict the spirit of the endangered animal. We will continuously add to this set over time and begin with five bright, beautiful, and critically endangered animals. Remember every time you plant 21 trees with a Band of Courage, you're not only removing over 1,000 pounds of Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere, you are helping to rebuild animal habitats - forests.
Handmade with glass beads, this stretch bracelet measures approximately 17cm / 6.7 inches in length which may vary slightly with bead pattern.
