Olive Ridley Sea Turtles

It’s estimated there are around 800,000 Olive Ridley Sea Turtles which sounds a lot, but they are still endangered on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and vulnerable elsewhere. There used to be over 10 million! That gives you an idea of the dangers they face, ghost or discarded fishing nets, plastic bags which they think are food, climate change disrupting their breeding patterns with warmer beaches producing more females and, of course, people. Olive Ridley’s are the smallest of the Sea Turtles and their shells are Olive coloured fused bone. Sea Turtles wear their bones on the outside! They have beaks, not teeth, made of Keratin, same as our nails, and Rhino horns. Sea Turtles have been around for over 100 million years and we’ve lost over 90% of them in the last 50.

The Olive Ridley Sea Turtle Necklace is handmade by artisans using glass and 24K gold plated beads with 14K gold plated clasp and fittings. The extension chain with our Leopard logo are both gold plated.

The necklace measures 38 cm (15 inches) with a 5 cm (2 inch) extension chain with a total length of up to 44 cm (17.5 inches).
