Olive Ridley Sea Turtles
It’s estimated there are around 800,000 Olive Ridley Sea Turtles which sounds a lot, but they are still endangered on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and vulnerable elsewhere. There used to be over 10 million! That gives you an idea of the dangers they face, ghost or discarded fishing nets, plastic bags which they think are food, climate change disrupting their breeding patterns with warmer beaches producing more females and, of course, people. Olive Ridley’s are the smallest of the Sea Turtles and their shells are Olive colored fused bone. Sea Turtles wear their bones on the outside! They have beaks, not teeth, made of Keratin, same as our nails, and Rhino horns. Sea Turtles have been around for over 100 million years and we’ve lost over 90% of them in the last 50.
The Iberian Lynx
The Iberian Lynx is so called because it is made up of links or 'Lynx' and, like the gorgeous feline - the Iberian Lynx - it symbolises, its shades of gold. The Iberian Lynx lives on the Iberian Peninsula in Spain and is also known as the Spanish Lynx. With a population of less than 100 at the beginning of the century, the Iberian Lynx is on the road to success with the current count around 2,000. They have a tawny gold coat and a beard which makes them look very cute indeed! Iberian Lynx's grow to about three feet or a metre and live amongst the trees!
Heart Reef
This unique bracelet is inspired by Heart Reef, a naturally formed coral reef creating an island in the shape of a heart found on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The only heart shaped reef in the world, it measures just 17 meters across. Heart Reef is a living animal made up of trillions of tiny polyps living within the calcium corals, which look like flowers, or 'the rain forests of the seas' as they are often called. When sea temperatures rise 1 degree or more above average, the animal polyps are shocked and forced to leave their coral skeleton home. 90% of the coral skeleton's food is provided by it's resident polyps and if the polyps are away too long the reef starts to bleach and then die! Climate Change is heating the seas, changing weather patterns and therefore ocean currents, upsetting order within the oceans, and too often killing lifeforms which can't adapt fast enough. Taking over 200 million years to form, this iconic Australian reef is a symbol of enduring love.

Population: In the 2021 / 2022 Australian summer season a low flying aircraft surveyed a total of 719 reefs on the Great Barrier Reef and found that 654 reefs of them, 91%, “exhibited some bleaching.” The Reef is not classified formally as "endangered' although it is widely reckoned to have this animal status. Estimates quote 50% of the reef as still living.
Coral reefs are the rainforests of the seas and Australia's Great Barrier Reef is the Amazon of the Seas. Over 2,300 kms long, it is the largest living thing on earth and home to 600 species of coral, 6 species of turtles, 215 species of birds, 17 species of sea snakes and more than 1,500 species of fish. Like the Amazon it is being destroyed by a combination of of human beings and global warming with over a third of it's coral now destroyed.
Three-quarters of the world’s coral species can be found on the Reef thriving on a massive colony of tiny polyps, trillions of living creatures we collectively call coral which also absorb CO2 from the atmosphere. Rising sea temperatures are bleaching (killing the coral) rather like cutting down trees, and destroying this marine habitat and the animals with it including the Phytoplankton, the small animals which absorb more than half the world's carbon dioxide and produce more than half its oxygen. Humans are as dependent on Reef as the animals that live there, so the Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest marine rainforest.
Our aquamarine and white bracelet with its gold and pink bands reminds us of what its like to look into the waters around the reef and see this marine continent of colour, life and beauty.

Loggerhead Sea Turtle Population
Loggerhead Sea Turtles are so called because of their large or log heads, which support bone crushing jaws to feed on hard shell creatures like sea urchins. Loggerheads live across the world in the Mediterranean Pacific, and warmer oceans and seas. They nest on beaches and the warmer the sand the more females are born, upsetting the balance of the species. They are also threatened by fishing nets, plastic bags and damage to their nesting beaches, the population is decreasing. Every two to three years females return to the beaches where they were born to nest, which means taking a dangerous journey of over 12,000 miles. That’s a long journey with many dangers today, so it’s no wonder their population is in decline. There could be as few as 36,000 nesting female Loggerheads remaining in 2015.

Uluru
Uluru is the aboriginal name of one of Australia's most sacred indigenous sites, and the symbolic heart of the Australian continent. It was created 600 million years ago and used to lie at the bottom of the sea, a sea which is now desert. It is a single rock measuring almost 350 metres in height and is believed to have been created by 10 ancestors or spirit people. Today it continues to be home to spirits which is why climbing Uluru is no longer allowed.
Our terracotta, pink and gold glass bracelet is a tribute to this historic monolith with its pink flashes evokes the femininity of the planet we so often call Mother Earth together with the black and gold bands which signify the regal authority of a symbolic heart. Uluru is a home and a symbol of Australia's historic heart.
Uluru's terracotta colour is reflected in our two bracelets celebrating this awesome landmark, and so appropriate. Terracotta literally means 'baked earth' and is a truly appropriate reference to our planet in the 21st century. Our Uluru collection of bracelets is a reminder of our constant battle for the ground we stand on, to protect it by healing Nature and planting 10 trees.
Acknowledgment and Respect
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of Uluru and surrounding land, the Anangu People, and pay respect to Elders past and present.

The Australian Gouldian Finch, also called the Rainbow Finch or Lady Finch, is one of the most beautiful small birds in the world. Native to Australia these beauties are found in the Northern Territories and Kimberly in particular. Their population has declined from hundreds of thousands to just 2,400 today. They are proof positive of the decline in Aussie woodland ecosystems through deforestation and bushfires. Finches live up to 6 years, they stick with their partner for life and seasonally produce 4 – 8 eggs with the young leaving the nest in just 40 days to live their own lives. Beauty, it seems, is no guarantee of survival!

Pink Lakes
There are 2 Pink Lakes in Western Australia, Lake Hillier and Lake Esperance. Esperance is no longer pink. Our bracelet symbolizes Hiller. Lake Hillier in Western Australia is a natural wonder, one of Nature’s pink lakes. Sitting on small island in the Indian Ocean, Middle Island, the lake measures just 600 meters long. Experts still debate the precise reason why she’s pink, all linked to its incredibly high salt content and the combination of algae (cellular plants) and bacteria (living cells with DNA) who cohabit the lake and whose colors and secretions turn Lake Hiller Pink. Lake Esperance, another pink lake in Western Australia, is no longer pink due to over harvesting of its salt, an example of the damaging effects of human interventions in Nature. Pink Lake Hillier lies beyond human intervention, an elegant reminder to us all of the enduring beauty offered to us by Nature.
