Bumble Bee

Bumble Bees are among the hardest working insects on the planet. To make 1 kg of honey bees visit 4 million flowers and fly 3x round the Earth. Their lifespan depends on how hard they work, worker bees live weeks, Queen Bees 2 or more years. Protecting bees protects our future, as they pollinate about a 1/3rd of all the food we eat. Einstein said, "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” There are over 20,000 Bee species worldwide, populations have declined by up to 87% due to habitat loss, with fewer flowers, fewer trees (deforestation), and the use of pesticides to protect the flowers, which kill the bees. Disease and the rise of predators doesn’t help, we need to do more. Fast!
