The Maui Dolphin is the smallest of all dolphins and almost the rarest, with less than 50 or so in existence, they are on the brink of extinction. The few that remain can be found on the Northern coasts of New Zealand where you'd think they might be out of harms way. Sadly discarded fishing nets and plastic can find there way everywhere in the seas. Our blue and white Maui Dolphin bracelet has black bands mimmicking their black, quirky Mickey Mouse ear-like dorsal fins. Maui Dolphins are characters, so please join us wearing a Maui and let's hope they can make a come-back as they shelter at the bottom of the world!
Dolphins love us, they entertain, laugh and even protect and save us. They are highly intelligent and love company, living in communities of up to 1,000 dolphins - a very human characteristic. Sadly we've not reciprocated the great pleasures they have shared with us. In fact, people are the dolphins' worst enemy and today seven of the forty or so species of dolphin are now endangered, two critically. Fishing nets have taken a toll, but its Climate Change that's dramatically changing their marine environment as rising sea temperatures rise bleaching reefs, confusing migrations and interfering with nature's reproductive processes. Our two dolphin bracelets in blue and white bands celebrate these animals, whilst the black bands offer a forgiving hand if we can help these almost human mammals.
Handmade with glass beads, this stretch band measures approximately 19cm / 7.5 inches which may vary slightly with bead pattern.
We plant a tree for everyone who joins the band. Our COP26 bands will being coming out at the beginning of September - a big month in the battle against global warming!
