We lost 144,000 elephants between 2007 and 2014. African Forest Elephants have been hunted for years with their ivory tusks the principal goal. More recently the destruction of their habitat through farming and climate change have accelerated the decline in numbers with the population decreasing by over 60% in the last 50 years.
